Build Update! December at Paignton Picture House
December brought steady, thoughtful progress at Paignton Picture House. The kind of work that doesn’t always shout, but quietly prepares the ground for what comes next.
On the balcony, specialist plasterers have completed the lime plaster float coat. Traditional, skilled work that restores breathability and character while readying the surface for its next chapter.
Inside the auditorium, the barrel ceiling has received its first coat of paint after careful preparation. A small but thrilling moment, the first glimpse of how the space will feel when it’s fully dressed once more.
Outside, essential remedial works have been completed to the steel truss feet on the east façade, with Fertan applied to protect the brick piers and safeguard the building’s future.
Elsewhere, the central viewing box is taking shape with first-fix installation of the pocket door now complete on the first floor. And at the south end of the building, reconstruction of the gable has begun, marking another visible step forward in the roof works.
