Restoration Update – Work in Progress

As promised, we are delighted to share restoration news with you – why not join our mailing list to be the first in the know via our newsletter?

On the Roof

Our new air source heat pump has been carefully lifted into place using a remote-controlled crane – quite the sight. Additional large plant items were also installed safely and smoothly.

Up in the Loft

The new loft walkway is now complete, providing safe access for future maintenance.

Next step: insulating and boarding to form the plenum.

West External Wall

Two layers of insulating wood-fibre boards have been fixed to the west wall.

These will soon be finished with a breathable, heritage-appropriate lime render.

Internal Preparations

Laths are being fixed to new timber grounds throughout the building, ready for lime plaster.

You’ll spot ply squares in the photos – these will later support handrails and light fittings at second-fix stage.

Basement Works

New galvanised steelwork has been installed to strengthen the penetration holes through the reinforced concrete slab.

Inside the Auditorium

Insulating lime plaster is being applied to the new timber laths. It’s a vast area, but the professional plasterers make it look effortless – and they’ve almost completed the scratch coat in just one week.

More behind-the-scenes progress soon.
