BIOGRAPHY
Caroline Skelton has worked extensively in finance in both the charity and the arts sectors, including the Royal National Theatre, Bonhams the auctioneers, a private art gallery in Dover Street, and Collections Trust. Since returning to the Southwest she has joined the Board as a Trustee and Company Secretary at Torquay Museum and also sits on the Finance Committee.
Caroline has volunteered in the Bay, at Torre Abbey and for the International Agatha Christie Festival, and also volunteered for The Tale and Eyeview, both of which held events at the Paignton Picture House. Caroline is on the Steering Committee of a University of Exeter alumnae group helping to organise social events and activities in the Exeter area.
Why do you volunteer as a Trustee for Paignton Picture House?
I believe that it is really exciting to be in near the start of such a project and to be a member of the group enabling what will be an important part of the revitalisation of the local cultural scene. Feeling that I am contributing to the Bay is important to me.
What are you most looking forward to when we open?
There will be of course a sense of pride that the building has been saved for the public to enjoy and I also hope that it will be able to offer a unique cultural experience.
What is your favourite part of the building?
The little details that make this building so unique and special: the mosaic floors, the stained-glass windows, the little art deco motifs.
