Why do you volunteer as a Trustee for Paignton Picture House?

I have a childhood connection to Paignton as my parents had a business here when I was a child.  This combined with my love of heritage, arts and buildings meant that the project felt very exciting to me.  My career has always been centered around working with charities, however my current role is in a commercial events company so I wanted to keep my connection to charities alive by volunteering some time.  I hope that my contribution will help to ensure the future of this beautiful space and provide the community with a place they can feel part of for years to come.

What are you most looking forward to when we open?

I'm looking forward to seeing the Picture House return to being a focal point for the town and local community; providing a space for young and old to enjoy art, culture and community.

What is your favourite part of the building?

I loved the rediscovery of the old arched windows at the top of the building which will see the sun rise and a beautiful light stream in.  I like how this shape is mirrored in other parts of the building in the new design.
